News, Features, Copywriting and Editing

Web PortraitAs a seasoned freelance journalist, I’m happy to get my teeth into almost any subject. Over the years, however, I’ve developed a niche in the hotel, restaurant, pub, travel and environment sectors.

I love variety, which is just as well as commissions have ranged from sampling swish resorts on St Lucia to being helicoptered onto a remote Scottish oil rig to check out the catering. But while in the past I’ve happily interviewed celebrities, such as Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Heston Blumenthal and (for five minutes) Michael Parkinson, I tend to spend most of my time nowadays speaking to company bosses, industry movers and shakers and the man in the street.

That said, I try not to pigeonhole myself. I’ve written consumer stories for supplements in the Guardian and Sunday Telegraph; tourism stories for VisitEngland; and news-led articles and profiles for business-to-business titles such as The Caterer, Totaljobs.com and Tnooz.

Having trained as a subeditor, I know the importance of accuracy and delivering copy to deadline. I’m also versatile and experienced, so if you need help with anything from editing to copywriting, I can help.
